1. Forbes (포브스) 인터뷰
Q. 마음에 드는 트랙?
Kai: So, “Jopping” is a really strong song for a single, but “No Manners” is very easy-listening, very memorable and really gets you moving so that’s why I like that one. I feel like when I heard that one I could see the performance.
Ten: Mine would be “Super Car” and “No Manners.” Just like Kai-hyung said earlier, “No Manners” is very groovy and easy to listen to, and “Super Car” is very trendy and the beat is very strong. I feel like we can hype the audience up a bit more with a song like that. “Super Car” and “No Manners” are more my style.
Taeyong: I choose “Jopping,” it’s jumping and popping, right, but the reason why I pick it is because the performance itself is a never-before-seen performance in K-pop, in my opinion. It’s going to stand out.
카이 : 쟈핑도 좋지만 '노 매너'(태용 작곡♡)가 굉장히 이지리스닝인데다 기억에 남을만한 감동적인 곡이기 때문에 좋아합니다. 노래를 듣자마자 무대를 상상할 수 있었습니다.
텐 : 저는 슈퍼카와 '노 매너'. 노매너는 카이형이 앞서 말했던 것처럼 그루비하면서도 듣기 편합니다.
태용 : 저는 '쟈핑'. 말그대로 점핑하고 팝핑하는 느낌도 좋지만 그보다도 퍼포먼스가 케이팝에서 한번도 볼 수 없었던 류이기 때문입니다. 아마 눈에 띄게 두드러질 겁니다.
Q. 각 멤버들에게 특별한 점을 발견하자면?
Taeyong on Lucas: He’s the maknae [Korean for the youngest] of our group in terms of when he debuted, so he has more energy so those kind of elements bring more fun to the experience.
Mark on Taeyong: I see him like every day because he’s on my team, but even though I see him every day, his looks surprise me every time. He looks mad frickin’ good. I think the strongest thing is that he holds a very strong persona and that shows in the performance, in reality as well, and that balances us as a team. He holds a very vital role in every stage of SuperM.
태용 → 루카스 : 연차로 보면 제일 늦게 데뷔했는데 활기찬 성격이라 같은 활동을 해도 더 재미를 안겨줍니다.
마크 → 태용 :
같은 팀이라 매일 보는데도 볼때마다 외모나 표정에 깜짝깜짝 놀랍니다. 제가 보기에 가장 큰 강점은 형은 굉장히 강렬한 페르소나를 갖고있는데 그게 무대에서 드러난다는 거에요. (실제로도 마찬가지입니다.) 그리고 그게 우릴 팀으로서 균형을 맞춰주죠. 형은 슈퍼엠의 모든 무대에 있어서 필수적인 역할을 맡고 있어요.

많은 케이팝 아티스트들이 미국 진출시 유명한 가수와 콜라보하거나 영어 가사로 된 힙합곡을 내는 데에 반해 슈퍼엠은 그렇지 않고 리스크를 감수했다.
카이 : 미국 취향을 더 대중적으로 저격하는 곡을 발매할 수도 있었지만 그건 그룹으로서 차별화되지 않고 좀처럼 미국에서 볼 수 없었던 걸 보여주고 싶었기 때문에 우리의 정체성을 확실히 보여주고 전세계를 매료시킬 잠재력을 발견한 바로 '쟈핑'이란 곡을 선택했습니다.
태용 : (이러한) '쟈핑'은 팬들에게 우리의 다양한 스타일을 보여주고 우린 뭐든지 소화할 수 있음을 증명한 기회였습니다.

NCT 127 leader Taeyong is no stranger to the multilingual interview scene. As the face of the NCT megaunit, he’s worked with group members from China, Thailand, Canada, the U.S., and just about everywhere in between. He’s also unique in that he’s the only SuperM member with a producing credit on the EP. When I asked Taeyong to talk about his work on “No Manners,” which is basically a song about savagely dumping someone, I received a brief panicked look. “Speak from your heart,” Baekhyun suggested. Taeyong did his best. “At first, it was difficult to understand what the song was trying to say, so I tried to make my rap into a story to help listeners understand. I’m not saying that breaking up is always the answer, but a bad breakup is … ” he trailed off, and looked around for an assist. Baekhyun stepped in, saying that the song is about how sometimes it’s best to cut a relationship off before it hits rock bottom.
In our current context, it was hard to imagine Taeyong as an expert on breakups of any kind. He’d been engaged and friendly, but very quiet—mostly just watching the other members speak with wide-eyed attention. As he sat tiny in his seat, in an oversized T-shirt and fluffy purple hair, it was difficult to reconcile him with the fierce, steely-eyed Taeyong of the stage. Next to him, Taemin was quiet and serene as well, but no less attentive—just beaming cherubically as he sipped on his Starbucks. Such is the duality of some of K-pop’s most arresting performers. After all, no matter how transcendent they can seem on stage—they’re called “idols” for a reason—at the end of the day, they’re just guys.
NCT 127의 리더 태용은 여러 언어가 사용되는 인터뷰에 낯설지 않습니다. NCT라는 거대한 유닛의 대표 얼굴로써, 태용은 중국, 태국, 캐나다, 미국 등지에서 온 멤버들과 작업하며 그 사이 거의 모든 곳에 있습니다. 태용은 또한 이번 앨범의 프로듀싱 크레딧에 이름을 올린 유일한 멤버라는 점에서도 독특합니다. 태용이 작곡에 참여한, 대략 누군가를 매정하게 차버리는 내용의 '노매너'에 관해 질문했을 때는 잠시 패닉이라도 온 듯 당황한 모습을 보였습니다. 백현은 솔직히 생각나는대로 말하라 제안했고 태용은 최선을 다했습니다. "처음에는 이 곡이 말하고자하는 바를 이해하기 어려웠으므로 듣는 사람이 쉽게 이해할 수 있게 랩을 이야기처럼 쓰려했습니다. 헤어짐만이 꼭 정답은 아니지만 나쁜 이별은..." 태용은 하얗게 질려갔고 도움을 구했습니다. 백현이 이를 넘겨받아 노매너는 왜 때로는 파국으로 치닫기 전에 관계를 끊는 법이 최선인지를 보여주는 곡이라고 보충했습니다. 이러한 맥락에서 볼때 태용은 어떤 종류든 이별에 관한 전문가라고 보기는 어려웠습니다.
태용은 사근사근하고 사람을 끌어당기는 매력이 있었지만 굉장히 조용했습니다. 대부분 휘둥그래진 눈으로 다른 멤버들을 보고만 있었습니다. 복슬복슬한 보라색 머리와 오버사이즈 티셔츠에 폭 파묻혀 의자에 쟈그맣게 앉아있는 모습과 무대 위에서 강렬하고 단단한 눈빛을 뿜어내는 태용을 매치하기란 쉽지 않았습니다. 화려한 케이팝 퍼포머들의 양면성이랄지. 결국에 '아이돌(우상)'이라 불리며 무대 위에서 얼마나 화려하게 보이든 하루의 마무리에서는 그들도 평범한 사람인거죠.
